Military build up in the Caribbean Sea and Netherlands Antilles -
a hint of imminent action against Venezuela by US 'friends', mercenaries (or black ops)?
(7-30-07)
The view from St. Maarten - For months now there has been a parade of military ships and helicopters and soldiers
doing 'joint exercises' here and nearby.
The big hardware is from the Netherlands. The reasons given are general preparedness, hurricane relief drills and common defence against 'drug lords'. As many as 900 area volunteers and European professional soldiers participate in these exercises. On St. Maarten they practice road blocks, sleeping in schools and buzzing the coast with a large helicopter. Is the activity driven by the United States and Exxon-Mobile-Shell's displeasure with oil liberator, Hugo Chavez in nearby Venezuela?
Consider this recent article in the World Socialist Website that nicely emphasizes the role of the press in explaining why the 'renegade' Hugo Chavez is a regional 'threat'. Not that the
United States or European allies, especially Dutch allies, would
want a piece of the giant bonanza in oil resources Venezuela has.
In the local press these recent headlines from St. Maarten's Daily Herald seem to state that Chavez is a threat to a free press by his crackdown on (CIA friend) RCTV.
Demonizing Chavez in the local media as well as the corporate media in the States is fully under way. The
revelations made by the World Socialist Website that the US will try to create a terror "threat" with Caribbean
origins strikes a chord. That will be shown to be true when the 'other show' drops and any other Federal-informant-originated plot is exposed with Caribbean born 'participants' (entrapped, targeted victims). Here is some more about the so-called JFK plot:
"There are lots of threats to you in the world. There's the threat of a heart
attack for genetic reasons. You can't sit there and worry
about everything. Get a life,"
- New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg
Here are some recent military movements in the Caribbean Sea, Netherlands Antilles area that seem like a war game against Chavez. St. Martin
(the French side of a dual nation island near Puerto Rico) played host to Bush Sr. and Mitterrand in 1989 when the Panama war was being planned.

"In the meantime, this tanker plane is assisting a Belgian F-16 mission to Afghanistan and will not be able to accompany the three F-16s back to the Netherlands. On request of the navy commander, the F-16s are being used to update the topographical maps of the ABC Islands, while waiting for the tanker plane to return. "
-- so under pretext of helping in a homicide case the entire military apparatus of the Netherlands kicks in to map the whole Southern Caribbean. That seems far fetched.
Dec 17, 2009 CARACAS (Reuters)
- President Hugo Chavez on Thursday accused the Netherlands of planning "aggression" against Venezuela by allowing U.S. troops access to Dutch islands off the Caribbean coast of the OPEC nation.
"I am accusing the Kingdom of the Netherlands, along with the Yankee empire, of preparing aggression against Venezuela," Chavez said at a meeting with leftist groups in Copenhagen, which was broadcast on Venezuelan state television.
Chavez, in the Danish capital to attend climate talks, is embroiled in a dispute with neighbour Colombia over a deal to give the United States more access to its military bases. The former soldier says Washington fears his socialist government and is surrounding Venezuela.

Interesting US diplomatic cables on the topic are
HERE
and
HERE.
1st item from August, 2005 is about Dutch strategic interests in the Caribbean and
how they can be leveraged against Venezuelan "meddling".
2nd item from June, 2008 has to do with USAF flights out of Curacao and French and Netherlands Antilles
military flights within Venezuelan airspace. Lots of details in the cable.
